Role summary

Perform the role Project Manager on consulting engagements with customers, typically managing a team through the complete project life cycle. Help develop the PM skills within the department including mentoring junior and trainee PMs. Carry out Business Analysis and pre-sales activities where appropriate.
Essence of role
To carry out consulting engagements, delivering against customer requirements and expectations. The individual will have full Project Management responsibility (scope, budget, schedule management) on a given project or multiple projects depending upon their size and complexity.
The PM role will have a delivery focus and their main responsibilities will include:
Responsibility for all project delivery activities
- Motivation and control of the delivery team
- Management of the customer, including a level of commercial responsibility and scope control
- Reporting of budgets and forecasts within Aspective
- Definition and ownership of the delivery methodology for the project
- Communicate with the customer in a professional, confident manner
- Ability to adapt to new and varied situations including those outside their comfort zone
The individual will also be expected to support pre-sales engagements with specific customers, developing proposals and supporting the process through to clear and agreed ‘work orders’ for consulting engagements.
To maintain up-to-date skills in specialist knowledge areas: e.g. Field Service
To establish and maintain strong working relationships with other members of the Consultancy team and line-manage several more junior members of the consultancy team
Role dimension

Financial (limits/mandates etc.)
- May manage projects of up to £750K
Non-financial (customers/staff etc)
- Manage projects ranging from under 100 to over 1,000 man days
- A significant amount of time may be spent working on projects on customers’ premises
- May mentor up to 2 people on PM-type skills
- May manage up to 10 people on a given project
- May line-manage several more junior consultants

Technical/Professional expertise

- Educated to degree level (2.1 or above)
- At least seven years background in Consultancy and Information Technology
- At least five years solid Project Management experience
- Knowledge of Mobile Field Service Management or Scheduling applications( Ideally one or more of ViryaNet, Dexterra, Sidewinder or Click)
- Proficiency in differing project methodologies (Waterfall, DSDM, etc.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Experience of pre-sales – carrying out high level design, feasibility studies, proof of concepts etc
