News & Events :: Bristol Water Taps Into Mobile Workforce Management Success With AspectiveUtility invests to achieve service excellence for customers and9.1.2008 - Aspective, a Vodafone company and leading provider of field service automation solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Bristol Water to implement a mobile workforce management solution that will drive efficiency and effectiveness of its field service operations and improve customer response and service levels. The solution will encompass resource planning, work scheduling, business process management, GPS and mobile data communication to laptops and PDAs over the Vodafone network, and is based on the Field Force Automation (FFA) system from GE Energy. FFA will consolidate planned and unplanned work tasks through integration with Bristol Water’s existing SAP ERP2005 and CRM, Smallworld GIS and Water Regulation Administration systems. Over 30 current manual processes and 80 paper forms will be streamlined by the new system, some of which are highly complex and dependent on multiple resource and workflows. “We require a proven technology with flexibility to address the process management and schedule optimisation needs of our wide range of work types. Following a rigorous selection process, GE’s Field Force Automation solution, implemented and supported by Aspective, emerged as the clear winner,” said Bristol Water Director of Organisation and Development, Manuel Cermeron “FFA offers a complete workforce management solution for utilities with flexibility to rapidly implement our current business needs and allow us to evolve best practice. Once in place, the new system will give our field engineers an unbeatable level of support to their day-to-day activities, driving down our response times and providing customers with improved levels of service.” Common tasks include meter installation and the inspection, maintenance and repair of Bristol Water’s 6,500 km, water pipe network. Within a closely regulated industry such as water supply, Aspective’s solution had to match up to stringent compliance legislation. Aspective Vice President, Jeremy Squire, commented “We are very pleased to have been selected by Bristol Water for this project. Following the much publicised success of our FFA implementation at Eneco in The Netherlands, we have received heightened interest from many UK and European utilities that want to ensure consistent processes and services levels whilst increasing efficiencies and productivity.” To request more information please call +44 (0)1784 410420.
